Plan within capacity
Compare the work you want to do with the time your team has available.
Start with available time
Set a weekly capacity after allowing for meetings, support, and time away. Use the same unit for capacity and estimates so the comparison stays meaningful.
Allocate work together
List the projects that share this capacity. Keep their estimates together while adjusting the plan: increasing one allocation reduces the time available for the others.
For a 40-hour week, allocating 16 hours to Atlas, 12 to Luna, and 8 to Sol leaves 4 hours unallocated.
Leave room to respond
An estimate is a planning aid. Revisit it when priorities change, and keep some time available for work that has not yet been identified.
Compare and adjust the plan →How remaining capacity is calculated
Remaining capacity is the weekly capacity minus the sum of all project allocations. A negative result means the plan exceeds the available time.
